Vintage Party Supplies, Cupcakes & Flowers

It was my Mother’s birthday just over a week ago and my sister and I decided to throw Mum a surprise morning tea using our gorgeous vintage party supplies. A vintage inspired event is one of our favourite party themes for grown ups, particularly popular for weddings, engagement parties, baby showers and, of course, birthday parties. This theme is great as you can use your lovely vintage china which is often hiding in the backs of cupboards and pile them high with lots of little party treats. Vintage party decorations can be very simple with pretty cottage flowers in mason jars or floral bunting. Tissue paper pom poms and pom pom garlands look amazing too.

Here are a selection of photos from this lovely morning tea. We used vintage inspired cake stands and loaded them up with cupcakes, cucumber sandwiches and other delicious treats.

The Love in the Afternoon cupcake kit is perfect for this theme and was such a lovely decorative feature too.

Salmon pate was served on crackers and duck pate served on crostini with gherkin. We used a collection of our vintage china to serve the food (all of this vintage china is available to hire for corporate events and weddings here in Gisborne). If you do not have a collection of vintage china available, our Love in the Afternoon range by Meri Meri features some beautiful vintage tea party paper plates and serviettes in both small and large sizes. We have also put together a vintage pastels range of basic block coloured plates, cups and serviettes; the vintage pastels paper napkins are a popular item for vintage inspired celebrations. Freshly picked flowers were scattered over the table and bunches placed in our 8oz and 12oz quilted jelly mason jars.

No vintage tea party is complete without gorgeous tea cups. The Love in the Afternoon range of paper hot cups are a perfect replacement if required and they are available both with and without handles. All of our paper cups are suitable for both hot and cold beverages.

This was a lovely surprise morning tea birthday party using pretty china, enjoying delicious food and catching up with wonderful friends. Happy Birthday Mum!
